Fencing 101 Classes
The Fencing 101 (and 102) classes are taught by Greg Kaidanov, a professional fencing coach with over 20 years of experience. He has coached several of the best fencers currently competing in the state of VA.
The Fencing 101 class currently meets on Tuesdays from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM and generally runs for 4 consecutive weeks. The only equipment requirement is a fencing glove and inner protector. The cost of those two items are included in the class fee, and the glove and inner protector are yours to keep. You’ll need them to continue fencing. Participants should dress for a workout with athletic shoes and long pants such as sweats or track pants. The class is taught in a group format with about 10 participants per class, and the participants tend to range in age from 8 to adult. 8 is the minimum age for the class. There is no maximum age!
The Fencing 102 class follows the 101 class and builds on the basic skills with 4 more weeks of instruction. Following the 102 class the participant can continue to participate as a regular member of Dark Horse Fencing. Adults can join the regular open fencing sessions. Youth can join one of the youth programs that are segregated based on age / skill. Coach Greg teaches a weekly fencing drills class, and he is also available for private lessons.
To register for the class send the participants names and ages via the form below. Payment is not required in advance, you can pay via cash or check at the first class. The current cost for Fencing 101 is $75, and that includes the required fencing glove and inner protector. The follow up class, Fencing 102, is $100 if you use club equipment. If you have your own equipment there is a $15 discount.
